The extreme Canada-EU trade deal & its potential impacts on Municipalities

The Hamiltonian is an excellent blog that features content on local issues that are important to our community here in Hamilton. Many thank-you's! to the Hamiltonian for featuring today's article on the extreme pro-corporate trade deal, the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement ('CETA').

Law Society of Upper Canada Wrongfully deprives Cancer Victim Livelihood throughout battle with Cancer

My Filipina mother Naty Bruce submitted the following text to the Hamilton Spectator in October 2013. The Hamilton Spectator did not publish the following, but only pics of Ann  Bruce with one sentence.

Ann Bruce
To my daughter Ann. Courage is grace under pressure. Be strong.

Since 2010, the Law Society of Upper Canada has demanded my daughter Ann continue in a procedurally flawed, unjust hearing.

The Law Society of Upper Canada persistently & unconscionably bulldozed my daughter Ann with litigation communications & litigation documents throughout her battle with breast cancer, attempting to drag her back into litigation despite letters from Ann's doctors, despite her mastectomy, on-going treatments, etc.

My daughter, with undiagnosed breast cancer, advised the Law Society panel she was too unwell to continuein distress. A biased, incompetent Law Society panel rebuked my daughter throughout the hearing for being too unwell & shockingly refused to grant her adjournments.

Ann repeatedly requested adjournments from the Law Society's hearing in the Law Society of Upper Canada v. Ann Bruce, and the Law Society's outrageous Estates Application against her. The unconscionable Law Society demanded Ann continue.

The Law Society wrote a shockingly unprecedented letter to Ann's surgeon at Women's College Hospital demanding that Ann's surgeon authenticate the individual in the hospital photo and demanding the surgeon answer all their questions about my daughter. My daughter's surgeon expressed disbelief at the Law Society's lack of knowledge of the basic tenets of doctor-patient confidentiality. The surgeon indicated their unwillingness to risk a medical licence for the sake of responding to the Law Society's demands.

The Law Society fails to comprehend the seriousness of my daughter's cancer. Such insidious behaviour from a self-governing body brings disrepute to the administration of justice and harms the public interest.

At the Cottage .   .  .

Last week was a great time to escape to the Cottage. . .
lakeside cottage -  Eugenia, Grey County

Last Friday's fierce storm caused many households in Hamilton to go without hydro, numerous trees were knocked down, flooded streets flooded basements, etc.

Tree clean-up this week of broken tree branches on frayed Live Wire on Jean & John Rodda's Empress Av property

We didn't experience the extreme heat felt in the City.
Instead, 10 of us indulged in the quiet calm of Lake Eugenia. . .

The clean, calm waters of Lake Eugenia made it perfect for a 3 hr canoe trip
We made good use of the 2 canoes!

We had a nice feast from the fresh bass caught in Lake Eugenia.
